The small family resort was originally called La Tagna meaning a bear’s dwelling, but this was later changed to La Tania so that all of its visitors would pronounce it correctly! It officially opened in 1990 for the Albertville Winter Olympics of 1992. It was only used to accommodate ice hockey players and journalists but now it has grown into a full resort. It is most definitely still a village with chocolate box chalets off the pistes yet it manages to encompass a buzzing atmosphere with theme night parties, après-ski happy hours and drinks promotions.

La Tania ski resort is situated in an evergreen coniferous forest at 1350m, it has easy access to the massive Three Valleys ski area lying between Meribel and Courchevel. The resort is predominately made up of traditional chalets made from natural materials; most of these are set above the resort in the woods so are idyllic and give the resort its charm. It also means that there are some great Ski in ski out chalets in La Tania. La Tania boasts perfect runs for beginners and intermediates, the best being the fantastic blue down to resort. The resort’s community feel is strengthened by its traffic free area and lots of non-skiing activities including dog-sledding and ice karting.

La Tania is a great ski resort because it is good value for the 3 Valleys and there are many ski deals to be had. Having an area pass will allow you to ski in 600km of pistes, but staying in La Tania ski resort will allow you to have a relaxing chilled out ski holiday. Chalet Beauvallon - La Tania - sleeps 12, is a luxury chalet is in a perfect location for skiing and access to the village, all of the bedrooms have ensuite facilities. The chalet has a lovely spacious open plan lounge to relax in after a hard day’s skiing. All of the bedrooms have a balcony and there is a lovely terrace from the lounge. It is just minutes away from the village, but guests can get a public elevator down for easy access to the bars and restaurants on offer. Chalet Chabirusse - La Tania - sleeps 12-13, is a 4* chalet is just 100m away from the lifts and the village but you can ski to and from the chalet during your holiday depending on the snow. The chalet has a lovely decking area off of the spacious lounge so is ideal for soaking up the sun.
